Stylistic features of Jazz

 Task two

This picture is showing 'isolations' these are used at the beginning of Jazz classes to help loosen up the
body as you have to move your hips or ribs to the beat of the music.

This picture is showing 'low centre of gravity' which is to keep balance, dancers tend to have a low centre of gravity and soft knees because it helps maintain transitions from movement to movement.

This picture is showing a 'contraction'. This is the contrast between desire and duty. The technique of contractions comes from the choreographer  Martha Graham.

This picture is showing 'sensuality' which is dance that is supposed to look sexy therefore it tends to have a lot of moves like hip thrusting and buttocks action.

This picture shows 'Jazz hands' is an extension of a performer's hands with palms towards the audience and fingers splayed. They are often used to finish off a show in order to give a strong and sharp ending.

A dynamic is juxtaposition of a smooth movement its more sharp and direct to give variety and exactment to the style.
