career began in 1916 at Denishawn school and dance company founded in Los angles
by Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn.
Martha
explored different world dances and folk dances.
She went to Eastman
school of music in 1924 in Rochester to teach and experiment even more.
Martha made
her first debut as an independent artist in 1926.
